About Koryn Dyer

Committed to Community Growth
Hi, I’m Koryn Dyer. I was born and raised in Fort McMurray, and I’m a proud mother, stroke survivor, and dedicated community advocate. I’m running for Ward 1 Councillor because I believe in listening to people, building strong relationships, and making sure everyone in our region feels seen and supported.
After experiencing life with a disability, I’ve made it my mission to work toward a community that is more accessible, more inclusive, and more connected. My journey includes nonprofit leadership, grassroots advocacy, and years of standing up for those who are often unheard.
This campaign is not just about politics. It’s about people. It’s about turning frustration into action and finding real solutions that reflect what our neighborhoods actually need. I believe that when we focus on respect, relationships, and results, we can make Fort McMurray a place where everyone has the chance to thrive.
Thank you for visiting. I look forward to walking this path forward together.
Core Values & Vision
Koryn’s approach is rooted in listening to the needs of the community, creating practical solutions, and implementing policies that benefit everyone. Here’s a closer look at the values that guide her work:

Transparency & Accountability
The community deserves open and honest communication. Decisions should reflect what was promised. If elected, I will always show up in person when possible, not just through a screen. I believe leadership requires being present, listening with intention, and standing alongside the people I represent.

Advocating for Inclusivity
I believe accessibility is a right, not a privilege. Advocacy means more than awareness. It means action. Whether it’s changing bylaws to finally get even one accessible taxi operating in our city, pushing for car seats on SMART buses so parents with children can travel safely, or expanding beyond the two accessible housing units currently available, I will fight for practical changes that improve lives.
True inclusion means designing our community with everyone in mind from the start. That includes physical accessibility, sensory-friendly spaces, and policies that serve people with disabilities, young families, and seniors equally.
I live this reality every day. I know what it’s like to face barriers that most don’t see. That’s why I’m committed to turning real experience into real solutions. Our region can and should be a leader when it comes to inclusive design and equitable access.

Innovation with Purpose
Creative thinking should lead to real-world solutions, not just big ideas that sound good on paper. I support innovation that improves daily life for residents. That means looking at how we can better use public spaces, bring in smart technology, and support programs that make Fort McMurray more accessible, efficient, and connected.
Whether it’s turning vacant buildings into community hubs, improving transit with practical upgrades, or piloting inclusive programs that meet real needs, I believe innovation should always serve people first. Good ideas come from listening, learning, and being open to change — especially when the old systems are not working.
Community-First Leadership
This campaign isn’t about me. It’s about you.
Even if I don’t personally agree with every idea, if the majority of residents want something, I will fight for it. That’s what representation means. I believe in listening to the people, not just leading from opinion.
Your voice matters. Whether it’s a service you feel is missing, a bylaw that needs updating, or a concern that has been ignored, I will show up, listen, and act based on what this community tells me. I don’t make decisions in isolation. I make them with you, for you.
